Bill advises the group to take action and get involved. Then he finds himself trying to resist the urge to get involved when his daughter, Sasha, announces she is dating his patient, Dave. Meanwhile, Inger decides to get involved with mediating her feuding neighbors through the apartment wall, and Michael insults Darlene about her obsession with Dr. Hoffman, prompting her to embark on an emotional affair with Sasha's ex-boyfriend and fellow Bill Hoffman worshipper, Ira. Jane Lynch guest stars as Bill's therapist colleague.
