The Bob Kemp Show
12:00:00 AM - 4:00:00 AM
Days:
Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri
An objective and factual look at sports
Objective
Bob Kemp starts each show with the words, “This is Bob Kemp. Welcome to the show. This is an objective and factual look at the world of sports.” And so it is. Kemp’s objectivity comes from a belief that no team or individual should be off-limits to praise or criticism. His style is hard-hitting, no-nonsense, if-you-don’t-know-what-you’re-talking-about- goodbye. He’s not on the air to be nice and gentle. His tough responses to the issues discussed on his show often draw the ire of hometown fans, especially in his “compelling commentary” segment. A Structured Show On his show, Kemp presents sports facts during two nightly segments – The Information Hour, devoted to news and grapevine discussion of sports topics, and The Preview Hour, where Kemp highlights the day’s top attractions, sports birthdays, and presents the day’s television and sporting schedules.
Interactive
Callers are Kemp’s show. Kemp uses his knowledge to challenge his callers, putting the pressure on them to know as much as he does. He relies on them to come to the table prepared to back up their opinions with substance and facts.
Tie Breaker
And when the interactions get heated while discussing controversial issues, Kemp reaches out to listeners in a strictly democratic fashion, conducting an opinion poll among his listeners. The results shed new light onto issues without clear answers. For his “Interactive Tuesday” show segment, Kemp gathers listener response
in the same way he gathers sports facts. He goes high-tech, using the Internet, email, fax, and voice mail to pick up messages from listeners. During the segment, Kemp addresses these questions and comments with his own brand of hard-edged, factual sports talk.
Bob Kemp
An objective and factual look at sports
Bob Kemp is a walking and talking sports fact machine. He knows his sports. From the big time to the obscure, major league to minor league, Kemp is on top of his game. He’s a sports junkie, and he does his homework every day, bringing his listeners a wealth of hard-core sports information.
Kemp started his career as an award-winning sportswriter and sports editor, a professional background that taught him top-notch fact-finding skills. His gathering of statistical knowledge goes beyond the arena of diligent study. He continuously accesses information from all sources, including his well-established connections within the business. And he has the drive and the mind to put it all together.
